the first time i see your smile
the second time
we meet again in my dream
and saturday night
when we walk in the park
you tell me
to hold your hand
it’s just like a dream
my funny little dream
when you
and me
when we walking together
in park
last night I saw your face
the last time you smile again
in my dream
and Saturday night
when we walk in the park
you tell me you love me
it’s just like a dream
my funny little dream
when you
and me
when we walking together
in park
my funny little dream
some people say that life is fun
some people say that life is hard
sometimes you have to understand
sometimes you have to accept defeat
sometimes you must dare to face
no one in the world a safe place
but a lot of ways to make it better
sometimes you have to try
sometimes you should be able to adapt
sometimes we'll be fine
we will be fine..
Baby hold my hand
Count to ten
Break the chain
I'm gonna take you inside my space
Baby don't be afraid
Maybe it's our fate
Just wait and see
I'm going to shout about it
It is you and me against the world
Don't waste our time for tomorrow
With you by my side
I can do anything
You and me against the world
Goodbye to all of our sorrow
So lets just put them aside
Put all the worries behind us
So lets just put them aside
Put all the worries behind us
It is you and me against the world
Don't waste our time for tomorrow
With you by my side
I can do anything
You and me against the world
Goodbye to all of our sorrow
So lets just put them aside
Put all the worries behind us
So lets just put them aside
Put all the worries behind us
Ever tried to wonder why its yer fault?
Im a body with no blood a body with no soul and youd soak up all those lies wouldnt you?
You could love me if only i run about 60 miles per hour. Oh its a shame
Howd u fancy all my styles? Howd u dance a copy of mediocrity? Its loosely based on notathing
U think u know
Tell me if you ever felt
When angel and bitterness has no distance
Somehow here we were hang and still alive to see
You must swallow things when beauty's gone
And I really don't understand what you're driving at
It's not all that easy to say for me, because...
Because they're look the same, but scented terribly bad!
Or even worse than you think
Tell me if you ever heard
When alive and "just" existing has no different
But life still happens even you're not shaped into it
You must swallow things when beauty's gone
And I really don't understand what you're driving at
It's not all that easy to say for me, because...
Because they're look the same, but scented terribly bad!
Or even worse than you think
i wait you in a side of the lonely night
while lighting my cigarettes, blowin to the air
10 minutes already past, but you have not come
whether i should keep waiting, or go back into my home
the night was getting late, and rain start to fall
now i would to calling you, why you make me wait
you said you couldn't come, cause it was too far
i thought you were lying to me, like you did on sunny day
It hurts when you said, i know I’ve been hurt but i try to stay here
wherever you will go, i dont feel better
stay with me when it rain, and warm me when it comes
its a precious time, its a precious time
i frightened if you leave me
wherever you will go, i dont feel better
stay with me when it rain, and warm me when it comes
whenever you will go, please take me with you
its a precious time
wherever you will go, i don’t feel better
stay with me when it rain, and warm me when it comes
whenever you will go, please take me with you
i know you created for me
A LAZY SUNNY DAY
BUT I DONT FEEL FINE
BRIGHT MY DAY COME ON MAKE IT SHINE
ANOTHER SUNNY LAZY DAY IN MY MIND
BRIGHT MY DAY COME ON MAKE IT SHINE
MAKE IT SHINE
MAKE IT SHINE
ANOTHER SUNNY LAZY DAY IN MY MIND......
And this is the lyric of shining light
Shining Light*
I see a shining light across the town
I see you standing there holding her hand
And you'll never know how does it feels
And you'll never know how does it feels
You're my shining light
But now it goes away
And you'll never know how does it feels
And you'll never know how does it feels
I see a shining light across the town
I see you standing there holding her hand
You're my shining light
But now it goes away
My shining light
Now it goes away
My shining light
Now it goes away
Now it goes away
Now it goes away
Now she goes away
maybe im wrong when im still thinking about you
maybe im just over curioused
maybe my heart will never let you go
maybe i'll never find anyone but you
so please dont let me down
i'll do anything for you
never let you go
coz it will break my heart
and you will be the one for me
maybe im wrong when im still looking at your smile
maybe im just missing you again
maybe my heart will never let you go
maybe i'll never find anyone but you
so please dont let me down
i'll do anything for you
never let you go
coz it will break my heart
and you will be the one for me
Here we start the new year
I love you more than anything
I do not know, how the future will look like
I will always stay beside you
I love you as you are
I promise to comfort you
For today, tomorrow and the coming days
I love you as you are
She's ivory tower
An imaginary woman
Illusive mankind of fantastic love
I love her, I love her fanciful shape
She's unreal
An ivory towerish woman
Illusive mankind with unrealistic love
I love her, I love her fanciful shape
Ooh, I love her, I love her fanciful shape
So much fun is a compilation featuring 13 international bands remake the tracks from Indonesian indiepop bands. The physical release of this comp will be released later on!
And here's what the bands said about the songs they cover:
The Very Most – Funny Little Dream (Funny Little Dream Cover)
I've loved this song for a long time, especially paired with the video. I was investigating Indonesian pop for some time because of my friendship with the band Brilliant at Breakfast. I love the wistfulness of the song. We recorded it pretty quickly and it came together easily. I think that's a testament to the quality of the songwriting.
Anthony Rochester – Sometimes (Tamankota Cover)
I already knew there was a lot of really good indie-pop bands in Indonesia but I asked Eko to recommend a few releases for me to listen to. This song by Tamankota stuck out to me because of the beautiful melodies. My approach to the song was to make it more light-hearted by speeding it up and using simple acoustic instruments. It was quite difficult to sing actually, but I did my best..
Denbaron – Me and You against the world (Mocca Cover)
When I was surfing the ups and downs of the www. in 2004, I consciously met an indonesian band for the first time. I was immediately impressed by Mocca, their style, the sound and the inventiveness. At that time, it was a bit more difficult to find good music from distant countries via the internet. I had to contact the label, make cumbersome payments and wait a long time for the cd to arrive. This made the music even more precious. Today it's much more convenient and thanks to Eko I know some more great indonesian bands than I did then. When I was asked by shiny happy records to cover an indonesian band, my choice immediately fell on my „first contact“, Mocca. The first album I knew was "friends" and it wasn't easy to choose one of the many great songs. In the end I chose "you and me against the world" (always a good title for a song).
When you cover a song, the question always arises as to whether you stick closely to the original or rather deliver a free interpretation. This time I decided for the faithful cover version and only had to follow the traces that Mocca has already left behind. Here and there I made tiny changes and added a few more little things, but basically I tried to stay very close to the original. It was great fun for me and I hope the audience will enjoy it too. As always: the original is of course better - unless den baron is covered, then the cover version is better ;)
Midden Heap – Worth Fame Pop Band (The Sensitive Cover)
This is one of those songs I always recommend whenever I talk about Indonesian indie pop. It’s a quintessential pop tune and by luck Eko suggested we cover The Sensitive, so of course we had to choose this one. We love the melody, and how it’s both meandering and subtle which is hard to come up with. We played with the song structure a little bit but stayed mostly on track with the original. The recording came together rather quickly on a spring afternoon.
The Laughing Chime – You Must Swallow Things When Beauty’s Gone (Ocean Chimes Cover)
I had not heard this song until I was asked to participate in this compilation, but I am very glad I was made aware of this project and its music! This song in particular stood out to me because it reminded me of classics dreamy and jangle tunes like those of The Ocean Blue and Echo and the Bunnymen. Plus it just makes good sense for The Laughing Chimes to cover another band with Chimes also appearing in the name. I wanted to give this cover my own flavor while not straying too far from the original as it has some excellent qualities (and I hope you go listen to it after this). With that said I decided to follow the song closely to the original while giving my guitars a clearer and dryer presence. I am very pleased with the end result and I hope I was able to do this wonderfully jangly (and yet beautifully melancholy) song by the Ocean Chimes justice.”
Caramel Snow - Precious Time (The Sweetest Touch Cover)
"I was lucky Eko suggested this song for me. The style is quite similar to what I would have written myself, and it is in my best vocal range, so I immediately related well with it. I began by copying everything from the original, but then adted it to my own style of production. I love this song! I can honestly say it is a "great" song, because it is a genuinely authentic portrayal of the poignancy, expectations, vulnerability, and disappointment of a young person in love. We all remember when someone we loved was 10 minutes late, or said something we misunderstood. At the time, we would have felt the most excruciating and unbearable anguish. These extreme states of anxiety tend to even out with maturity, but this song takes me back to what it felt like in my teens and early 20's."
Cinema Lumiere - Lazy Sunny Day (Annemarie Cover)
We listen to a several indie bands from Indonesia (The Lousy Pop Group, The Silent Love, Annemarie, etc.). When Eko of Shiny Happy Records invited us to join this compilation album, Annemarie was the first band to pop in our heads. So we listened to ABC On TV album to pick a song. We decided to pick Lazy Sunny Day because it's an acoustic song, we can add a lot of elements to it and we want to challenge ourselves on how to make it sound like a Cinéma Lumière song.
Les Bicyclettes De Belszie - Shining Light (Sunny Summerday Cover)
"'Shining Light' is such a gorgeous song and I wanted to emphasise the beauty of the lyrics. I decided to keep to a simple, almost acoustic arrangement, (only bringing in drums at the very end), so as to highlight the passion behind the words, underpinned by the simple, yet utterly dreamy melody. It was a real pleasure and lots of fun working on this track."
Grand Drifter - Maybe (The Silent Love Cover)
There is something so simple, so true in this song. A glimpse that reminds me of long-gone sunny after-school afternoons. When the breeze of early spring is paired with the first fall in love, always unrequited.
I kept the plain verse-chorus structure adding little changes to some notes of the chords, so I could somehow underscore the mood of the simple lyrics. Unlike the Silent Boys original -that’s so pure Sarah Records- my version is totally acoustic. A kind of 60’s chamber pop music. The vocals and harmonies are central and emphasized. Then acoustic guitars, organ, piano, and some percussion help doing a gentle atmosphere.
A tiny musical sketch that tells about eternal human feelings. That’s why I like this song.
Archaster featuring Kiersten Yu - Let Me Dance In The Sun (Tikki Tikki Tembo cover)
"I was introduced to the Indonesian Indiepop Scene way back in “Multiply”, “Dufflecoat Records” and “Sea Indie” days, maybe around the late 2010s? Surprisingly, a lot of great bands have emerged from this small community. It’s such a great honour to have been invited to participate in this meaningful project; a compilation to pay tribute and celebrate the contribution of the Indonesian Indiepop Scene to our music community. I have chosen to recreate the song “Let Me Dance In the Sun “ by Tikki Tikki Tembo because there’s something magical about this song. For me, this song is one of the proofs that Indiepop is very much alive in Indonesia. I really love the contrasting “sad-but-playful” melody of this song. My 8-year old daughter and I really enjoyed the experience of making this rendition. I humbly raise my glass to the Indonesian Indiepop Scene!" – Archaster
Flannel – Days (The Lousy Pop Group Cover)
I have a lot of favorite bands with their beautiful melody and gentle vocal style. The Lousy Pop Group’s ‘Days’ that I recreated is one of them. When I got an offer from Eko to participate in this compilation project, I didn't hesitate to make a cover of this ‘fulfilled Sarah Recods atmosphere’ song! I think my version is more on 90's US indie pop and Japanese indie pop essence.
This time, I listen to many wonderful Indonesian indie bands, they are all wonderful ! As a member of the same Asian indie scene, I hope we can get excited together. Of course, I know that indie pop doesn't need borders, just need nice song!
Dreamcoaster - Ivory Tower (Sharespring cover)
It was a real pleasure to indulge ourselves in the rich shoegazey textures of Ivory Tower by sharespring. We love a washed out guitar sound and this song was perfect for building that reverb drenched wall of sound. It’s a lovely track but very short, so we added a few bars because we didn’t want it to end - oh and some Dreamcoaster harmonies of course
Nah – Catclysmic (Perfect Angel Cover)
This is has always been a favourite! Apart from the brilliant riff that runs throughout, there’s a childlike innocence combined with psychedelic effects and an unexpected 3/4 timing shift. All in all Perfect Angel has produced a quite perfect dream pop song here. We have kept the “foreign accent” in tact, as it adds to the charm! Shame this band is inactive!
